Directions

The property can be found on the A683 approx. 1 Mile east of Sedbergh.

We have a postcode of LA10 5LN and on most sat navs that brings you direct to our door (sometimes it will ask you to turn off the main road onto a narrow lane – do not take the lane but proceed along the main road away from Sedbergh for another 150 yards.

When coming from Sedbergh, parking is behind the second gates (the two wooden gates).

If coming from Kirkby Stephen, the property is on the left about 100 yards after a sharp bend over a bridge at the bottom of the hill (there is one sharpish bend over a bridge halfway down the hill about 4 miles before ‘our’ bridge).  If you reach Sedbergh you have gone too far, parking is behind the first set of wooden gates

We recommend hitching the gate open on both sides, especially if windy!  Please park straight down into the yard (two spaces are marked side by side).

We will normally see you and greet you as you arrive.

 If we are not around:

  • Boskins is to the right as you have parked and will be open with the key in the back of the door.
  • Speight Cottage is through the gap on the right-hand side from where you have parked and across the gravel area and will be open with the key in the back of the door.

We can be found on most maps (as the property has been here a long time)

Check In / Check out Time

Check in time is normally 4pm. If you plan on arriving later, please let us know. Sometimes it is possible to arrive early, but we can only accommodate that if we only have one changeover etc, so please ask and we will see what is possible.

We provide a small welcome pack for your arrival so that you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee after your journey.

Check out is by 10am on the morning of your departure. We are happy for you to leave the car in the yard for a while, but ask that the cottage is vacated by 10am so we can proceed with the cleaning and preparation for our next guests (again sometimes a late checkout may be possible – but please ask)

Dogs

We welcome pets and have five dogs of our own that can roam the property.  You can shut the gate to your cottage and our dogs will not disturb you.  We provide a small paddock for exercise, and have two fields, shared with our Donkeys, Highland Cows and a few sheep that you can use. These fields have a path that continues along the river towards Sedbergh (or for the more adventurous –the other way leads up onto the Howgills).

We have chickens that roam the property (when bird flu restrictions allow), and sheep are often in the fields along the river walk. Whilst we are very relaxed with all the animals, please keep your dogs under control and do not leave them unattended in the property during your stay.
